Remodelers Council Garage Sale 2016

Most of us have experienced a garage sale, whether we’ve done one ourselves or we have been out searching for bargains.

The Remodelers Council Garage Sale adds an additional element – all the proceeds go to charity.  Members of the Greater Houston Builders Association Remodelers Council have donated products that will be sold at the 9th Annual Garage Sale to be held at the Texas Home and Garden Show on September 24th and 25th.

This year the RMC Garage Sale is co-chaired by Jennifer Wall and Bill Carter of BMC/Bison. In addition, many members of the Remodelers Council volunteer their time before and during the event.

“The Garage Sale takes months of planning and committee work,” said Maria Frank of Cabinets & Designs. “It’s a really wonderful opportunity for vendors and their associates to come together to help others, and so many people offer up their time and assistance with everything from donations to storage to transportation of donated items.”

Stacy Argo of A-Plus Glass Services,  a dedicated volunteer said “Working at the annual Remodelers Council Garage Sale is so awesome. You can feel the enthusiasm from the people waiting in the line Saturday morning when it opens, excited to go in to find home improvement items at very reasonable prices. Last year we had items such as new bathtubs, wine coolers, granite countertops, air conditioning units and lighting fixtures (I love the fixture I bought).  The Garage Sale is a great way for consumers and businesses who donate to give back to the community.  It is also good for the environment because these items get new homes rather than ending up in a landfill.”

Last year proceeds from the Remodelers Council Garage Sale helped renovate a home for a family in need. The GHBA Remodelers Council, led by Sherry Pruitt, CGR, CAPS, with WhoDid It Designs completed the 2016 Charity Project at the Casa de Esperanza – Mary Scalise home. The RMC volunteers made much-needed updates and improved the functionality, safety and beauty of the foster mother’s home.

Whether you are looking for a bargain or simply want to help others in need, we invite you to visit the Remodelers Council Garage Sale at the Texas Home and Garden show at the NRG Center Saturday and Sunday September 24th and 25th.
